Our Story
Our passion for fresh produce sprouts from strong farming roots.
Founding patriarch, Jack Farmer planted our success on his Virginia farm, where he began growing potatoes to be sold to market and in 1956, our business was born. In the mid 1980s, Jack’s son Barry Farmer, saw the opportunity to create a more efficient and quality-controlled process by removing the middleman. In doing so, he built a packing facility, Virginia Farm Produce, ensuring we manage the entire process from dirt to door internally.
With third-generation Matthew Farmer at the helm, the business is embracing modern automation to see the Farmer Group expand its production and take on new markets.

Global Footprint
Australia is known for its boundless plains and a country shaped by farmers for generations.
As a fourth-generation family of farmers, we are proud of the fresh Australian produce that we bring to the table.
We produce table potatoes and onions and value-add to make it ready for the consumer market, both locally in Australia, and for a growing international footprint.
Making importing easy
We make export trade as easy as placing an order, regardless of where in the world you are. We work to mitigate the hurdles, with our own Authorised Officer on site, trained and assessed by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. Our AO is able to perform a range of export functions to ensure biosecurity and the safe and trusted export of our produce, while allowing us to internally manage the process to meet the changing deadlines and requirements of export markets.
Exporter Certification
We have exporter certification to facilitate the smooth exit of our produce from Australia. In turn, this allows us to export under our own name or coordinate shed door delivery for our customers’ larger volume shipping requirements. We are centrally located to export our fresh, safe, and high-quality produce to tables around the world.
